Is a good assistant a boss's best friend? Most loyal ally? Most abiding colleague, that follows the rules and doesn't tug on the leash too much..?

I enjoy being an Assistant, and still sometimes I chuckle to myself, because a lot of it feels like playing the role of a "good dog".
